I last tasted this Saint-Aubin chardonnay at the domaine in
November 2009 and bought a case. This turned out to be a case too far as my overloaded car broke down on the motorway and was then transported back to England where it needed a new engine (see photo). This Saint-Aubin 2008 has a lovely rich yellow colour with light gold tints. A gentle citrus, almond and vanilla nose. Wisps of white flowers. The wine really comes to life on the palate: full, rich lemon and apricot fruit. A wine with great width. A bit of a fatty. With a pleasant savoury finish. This wine is gouleyant! Riper than usual.
