Clive Coates believes that Romanée St Vivant is the most delicate and feminine of the Vosne grand cru. And who I am to argue? The domaine's holdings in this grand cru are not documented in any recent Burgundy tasting tomes. This Follin-Arbelet Romanée St Vivant 2009 has a fragrant nose, red roses, raspberry dominated with wafts of late summer pollen. Perfectly crafted crushed berry fruit sensation from a medley of raspberry and wild Austrian strawberry. Very fresh on the finish which underlies superb length and Yves St Laurent style. Brilliant. Tasted courtesy of the Justerini & Brooks Burgundy 2009 tasting. Photo shows the cross in the Vosne vineyards near Romanée-Conti.
