Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru "Les Cailles" 2009, Robert Chevillon

This vineyard is on the southern side of Nuits-Saint-Georges next to the acclaimed "Les Saint Georges" vines. A bouquet of vanilla, fairly closed, hints of background plum and cherry fruit. This 1er cru has been aged 15% in new oak - a very judicious percentage which thumbs its nose at the ridiculous preferences of The American Whose Name I Shall Not Speak. Sweet strawberry, fantastic fruit quality, delicate, stylish with a kick on the finish. Captures the best of this sunny 2009 vintage and conquers the worst. Tasted courtesy of the Justerini & Brooks Burgundy 2009 tasting.
