Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes 2009, Rossignol-Trapet

Made from vines which are either 40 years old or 80 years old, this Gevrey 2009 vieilles vignes is fragrant, offers some red berry fruit, a smidgen of cherry, but is overall fairly quiet on the nose. Stylish on the palate there is a strong initial impact from cherry fruit, its rounded, fresh and has a savoury finish. What more could you want from a Gevrey?! A candidate for best Gevrey village of the vintage and reasonably priced.
