Gevrey-Chambertin "Cuvée Ostrea" 2009, Trapet Père & Fils

Domaine Trapet, located in Gevrey, has a wide range of grands crus and premier crus and is managed by Jean-Louis Trapet. In his 1997 book Clive Coates refers to the domaine as "good but not great". I beg to differ. This Gevrey, picked from September 10th, has an appealing thick plummy colour, a beguiling fruit nose, soft berry fruits. Good ripe tannins and a stratum of minerality ties the wine together. An excellent Gevrey villages which will taste well from 2013. Tasted courtesy of the Corney & Barrow Burgundy 2009 tasting.
