Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru "Les Cazetiers" 2002, Dupont-Tisserandot

Another wine tasted blind in the remarkable Broadhurst Tasting Salon located just off Parsons Green. The interesting point: I identified the wine as a Gevrey 2007... after eating roquefort. This Gevrey 1er Cru 2002 from the Dupont-Tisserandot stable has a rich, deep purple plummy colour. Solid black cherry and licorice aromas laced with loganberry and red currant freshness. On the palate thick plum, chestnut, black cherry. Good fresh acidity on the palate and has aged much more gracefully than other 2002s. Despite the dodgy French textbook name, (M. Dupont = Mr Smith) this is not such a bad beverage. I took against this domaine due to the nasty concrete tasting room. Call me shallow.
