Hautes-Côtes de Beaune 2006, A-F Gros

Anne-Francoise Gros invited me to help with the vendanges in this vineyard. I'm too inexperienced with the secateurs to be let loose on true Côte d'Or vineyards. Deep red colour with a figgy edge. A nose of blackberry with a melange of plum and cherry fruit. Core flavours of red currant blended with plum wrapped in artichoke, parsley, wheat. Tannins evident and it pulls up short at the end with a tongue-clacking bitterness. For a Hautes-Côtes this is impressively multi-dimensional.
