Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "Les Folatières" 2008, Jean Chartron

The premier cru lieu-dit "Les Folatières" is at the same level on the hill as Chevalier-Montrachet and the style is similar -- a perfect blend of power and minerality. This Puligny premier cru is a rich yellow colour with a deep and gratifying nose of yellow stone fruits, mirabelle and nectarine interlaced with ripe apple and pear. The concentration of the grapes due to being harvested late in September is obvious from the sucrosity on the nose. Amazing minerality, great length and promising fruit concentration which is now concealed by the structure. Judiciously aged 30% in new oak this Folatières 2008 from the domaine Jean Chartron should be cellared until 2013.
