Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru "La Maltroie" 2007, Bernard Moreau

I have tasted at the Bernard Moreau domaine twice in the last 3 years and both experiences have been impressive despite the tasting room being the cuverie and the crachoir a big sink. When young the Moreau wines taste linear and mineral, but 2 years on the typical Chassagne peach and melon blousy fruit comes to the fore. This 2007 Maltroie is a tad shy on the nose -- I recommend waiting until Christmas 2011 to open with a poulet de Bresse or roast partridge. Still a hint of boise -- another indicator of juvenile nature. Fresh ripe citrus and nectarine fruit on the palate. Tasty rather than elegant with a wink of fun. Will taste perfectly between 2011 and 2012. Don't leave after 2014.
