Marsannay 2008, Dominique Laurent

The village of Marsannay is the only appellation contrôlée on the Côte that produces white, red and rosé of comparable quality. This is an intriguing Marsannay blanc produced from chardonnay grapes grafted onto Muscadet rootstock. Full straw colour, thick which is very "Côte de Nuits" for a chardonnay. Sharp citrus peel, new oak, baked orange and hazelnut nose. A pleasant lemon, orange and green apple fruit flavour. Shot of pineapple acidity, definite sharpness that lingers. Very enjoyable and excellent value from Magnum in Beaune.
