Beaune 1er Cru "Les Cent Vignes" 2007, Château de la Velle

This is a remarkably concentrated Beaune 1er cru pinot because the vines are a special clone that produce small berries, low yields and high levels of concentration. Deep nose of violets, licorice, blue berries and black berries. Impressive for the lighter 2007 vintage. Wonderful punchy fruit in the mouth. Elegant tannins, minerality combined with plum flavours and black cherries. A distinctive and out of the ordinary Beaune. Photo shows Beaune grapes left after the harvest in late September 2008.
