The great thing about a wine weblog such as this one is that one can easily trace tasting notes from prior years. After sampling this absolutely delicious Pernand blanc I looked up my
notes from December 2008 when I last tasted the wine. No mistaking, this is a tremendous chardonnay and confirms the value of buying from the trickier uphill villages in warmer years. Lovely, end-of-summer straw yellow colour. Delightful nose of vanilla, pears, orange blossom in Sevilla and almonds. Evokes Provence more than the Cote d'Or. Superb orange and nectarine fruit flavours with a luscious texture. Artful balance: imagine peaches balanced on pebbles. Perfection.
