Bourgogne Blanc 2008, Domaine Bernard Moreau et Fils

The quality of the Chassagne 1er crus from this domaine is phenomenal. When young, the wines are very mineral, but they gain wonderful opulence after 5 years. I like to try the regional appellations from quality producers like Bernard Moreau to test how conscientious they are (and, I admit, to pick up a bargain). This Bourgogne chardonnay is a classic example: bright unoaked silver-yellow colour, splendid critus bouquet with a hint of peach, excellent fruit body and a delight to drink. Tasted blind I have no doubt people would place this as a village appellation from Chassagne or Saint-Aubin. Taste with close friends "qui ne sont pas les degustateurs d'etiquettes".
