Echézeaux Grand Cru 2008, Francois Lamarche

During my 18 years of Burgundy tastings I have rarely seen wines from this venerable domaine. Vinified with very little new oak (an increasing trend in Burgundy thankfully) and picked after September 26 this Echézeaux 2008 has splendid red berry fruit with a lovely crunchy quality. Granitic structure from the terroir, limited tannins. A tad light on the acidity which is a trait of the sweet, late-picked 2008s. An enjoyable wine.
