Chablis 2008, Bertrand Capdevigne

Another Chablis tasting note from Andy Cowper, something of a Chablis theme getting started! This Chablis producer is not listed in two of the main wine-tasting references for France, the "Old Testament" of the Guide Hachette and the "New Testament" from Gerbelle and Maurange. In the words of the twentieth century's great spiritual leader Father Jack Hackett, "that would be an ecumenical matter". A pale gold colour rather than the salad hues sometimes associated with Chablis. Heady nose without being overly flinty. Clear and clean taste and the minerality comes through strongly on a two-second delay. Generous length for a young wine. More than enough going on to be consumed alone, although it is quite capable of matching a chicken casserole. Deliciously drinkable.
