Saint-Aubin 1er Cru "Clos de la Chatenière" 2002, Hubert Lamy

Is this as good as premier cru Saint-Aubin gets? Classic citrus, hint of vanillins, hazelnuts and almonds. A mild set of aromas. Beautiful balance drawing on the fresh pear and tangerine fruit laced with new and aged oak tannins. Minerality provides length and freshness. A wine with superb poise, like an Olympic high diver. Ends with a delightful creamy sweetness. I believe this is the best that can be achieved in Saint-Aubin. But its not al good news. Brilliant as this wine is for a Saint-Aubin it also illustrates the limitations of the terroir.
