Meursault 1er Cru "Clos Richemont" Monpole 2007, Henri Darnat

This monopoly 1er cru lieu-dit is near Volnay where there is a lot of iron in the soil. The wine is citronne, concentrated, very smooth with complexity from oak tannins. Impressive sensation of minerals on the tongue. Profound rather than obvious. This wine triggers ideas that go beyond the ordinary -- like "gothic aromas". Recommend tasting when looking at fine masonry such as the West face of Wells Catherdral or the Basilica of St. Magdalene in Vezelay. Remarkable wine. Not cheap.
