Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru "Les Caillerets" 2007, Bernard Morey
This Caillerets has what I call a "golden sensation" which reminds me of the emblematic portrait of Henry VIII. Oak, caramel, barrique chauffee this Chassagne is hard to assess on the nose as the vinification obscures the fruit character. Closed yet potent. Spicy yet ill-defined. Good fruit depth. Try it in 2 years time with Singapore noodles or giant Japanese spider crab (Macrocheira kaempferi)from Hokkaido.
