Auxey-Duresses 2007, Henri Darnat

The Henri Darnat domaine came to light in the Corney & Barrow tasting in January 2009. The Champs Gains was particularly good. Despite being a well-established domaine the winery is "on the wrong side of the tracks" about half a mile outside Meursault. But with good reason. By building a modern air-conditioned winery M. Darnat has achieved total control over his wine-making process. And a what results! This Auxey blanc kicks off with almonds, walnut, sapin, pine kernels, pith, and pignons which is in fact the same thing as pine kernels. Mineral and fresh. Bottled in October 2008. Attractive young Auxey indeed.
