Saint-Aubin 1er Cru "Clos de la Chateniere" 2002, Hubert Lamy
I have now mentally recovered from the 67 wine tasting marathon in January. This wine announces itself with a yellow gold colour; as is often the case with mature white Burgundy, the aromas need a good 15 minutes to open up. Almond, cherry juice, mineral, dried trompette mushrooms and a little oxidized (hints of manzanilla sherry). A savoury wine with very well integrated oak and lemon flavours. Would have been better in 2007.
