Meursault Cuvée Tête de Murger 2007, Patrick Javillier

Courtesy of the Justerini & Brooks Burgundy 2007 tasting. This (fairly pricey) wine is a blend of grapes from Meursault les Casse-Têtes and Meursault les Murgers de Monthélie. The idea behind the blend is to combine the minerality from the Casse-Têtes and length and opulence from les Murgers. The proof of the vinification is in the imbibing! Layers of ripe apples, bursting with promise, vanilla, soft spices (cloves), lemon, satsuma and a sharp bayonet thrust on the finish. The blend makes sense. Excellent wine but not on a par with the even better Tête de Murger 2006 tasted exactly a year ago under identical conditions.
