Courtesy of the Justerini & Brooks Burgundy 2007 tasting. If you want to understand a Burgundy vintage in red look no further than Gevrey. This appellation defines the vintage. The first reniflication of this Gevrey from a domaine I know all too well hit the spot: a splendid mix of ripe red berries with a hint of spice (required for a real Gevrey) and a dash of vanilla. Big cherry fruit-driven structure complemented by denser plum flavours which promise a long maturation. No wonder M. et Mme Drouhin look so happy. La classe.
