Corton-Charlemagne 1998, Louis Lequin

This is an absolutely beautiful wine made by a master. Bright gold fully saturated colour, subtle aromas of lemon, peach and apricot enveloped in layers of butter and honey. Gentle spice aromas like cinnamon and cloves with a soupcon of Piemonte white truffle. This grand cru is very much alive on the palate with citrus and cherry flavours, rounded fruit texture, a savoury overlay and excellent intensity. Remarkable length that Charlemagne himself would have lauded. There is nothing better than tasting a great wine at the peak of its evolution from a producer like Louis Lequin who's grandfather's wine was served at the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. Chapeau!
