Chambolle-Musigny 2002, Domaine Heresztyn

This Gevrey domaine, with a Polish family background, produces excellent wines from the trio of Gevrey, Morey and Chambolle vineyards. The 2002s are starting to crawl out of their shell so we cracked open a bottle of Chambolle to complement a roast goose. Poured from the decanter this Chambolle sparkled immediately -- sweet cherry, spiced wild strawberry, raspberry and violets. Medium-weight fruit with a lovely wrapping of vanillins and real elegance. On this showing 2002s will be tremendous in 2010 when the tertiary aromas burst out from the potent tannins.
