Mazoyères-Chambertin Grand Cru 1999, Domaine Perrot-Minot

This grand cru is mind-blowingly intense. Fantastically rich aromas of blackberry, damsons, black cherries and roast venison. Phenomenal dark fruit flavours, hints of Beijing roast duck, brambles, saturated tannins and a lovely freshness like a cool foehn breeze. A wonderful wine now and has at least another 5 years before releasing more varied tertiary aromas.

Mazoyères is a grand cru lieu dit next to Charmes-Chambertin and can also be labelled as Charmes. The domaine is managed by Christophe Perrot-Minot and located in Morey and there is plenty of information about the estate and the wines on the Perrot-Minot website. I also scored the Vosne-Romanée 2004 highly in a blind tasting.
