Vosne-Romanée 2003, Jacques Cacheux

This Vosne from the super-hot 2003 vintage has evolved rapidly since last tasted in October 2007 and this bottle offers more than its precedessor. A noble-looking Burgundy colour gives way to warm and heady aromas of cherry juice, cooked oranges and raspberry licorice. Wonderful hints of cassis de Dijon and cointreau lurk in the depths of the glass and catch the back of the throat. The thick explosive cherry and strawberry flavours give way to a slight sourness on the finish. Most enjoyable but not to be kept and wasted on Rex Mottram. Add cheese such as the délice de Pommard.
