Hautes-Côtes de Nuits "Cuvée Marine" 2005, Domaine Anne Gros

This fabled domaine has gone modern with its super-clean label design and funky screw-cap closure. Non-cork corks are the new black in Burgundy! Making chardonnay work on the hautes-côtes can be a real challenge. Lime tree leaves, fridge-temperature floppy celery and white apple flesh are the meagre aromas. Sappy texture, hidden weight and a dryness on the palate along with a green gauge and apple flavour. In sunny 2005 this high mountain chardonnay has impressive weight. There is enough fruit for the wine to plump up. An ideal companion for salty goats cheese.
