Bourgogne Blanc 2004, Domaine Rémi Jobard

This domaine is based in Meursault. The white wines have received many plaudits although I haven't tasted sufficient of them to vouch for the overall quality of the domaine. That said the Monthélie 1er Cru 2003 turned out to be an excellent breuvage. How about this regional quality 2004? This Bourgogne blanc is immediately appealing punching out a varied bouquet of lemons, honeycomb wax, clementine pith and Japanese enoki mushrooms. This wine has an outrageously perfect ballerina-like balance with delightful minerality and a silky texture. Remarkable for its mouth-filling breadth yet feather light length. Glorious ripe lemon tart and pastry finish. And all these superlatives for a simple Bourgogne blanc! Exciting stuff.
