Fixin 2005, Michel Noëllat

This Vosne-based domaine has a splendid range of Côte de Nuits reds including this Fixin a small village parked between Marsannay and Gevrey. Allegedly the cellar was built from the stones of the old prison in Beaune. Luckily this jolly Fixin escaped. The nose is charming and deep centred on plum, cherry, cinnamon, corn and oak. Medium-bodied and the normal rustic tannins are softened by the 2005 ripeness. Still has dense pinot tannins and finishes on a redcurrant kick. A very enjoyable Fixin. This wine is fairly good.
