Saint-Aubin 1er Cru "Clos du Meix" 2001, Hubert Lamy

Tasted in the large bottle format of a magnum, which according to the Bevan-Chua scale for a white Burgundy implies an 18% slower ageing coefficient, this was a tremendously pleasing wine. Expectations around the dinner table were high given the nigh-on perfect conditions of 2001 for white Burgundy. The nose impressed from the orf with soft citrus and trademark minerality. These aromas continued with a hint of trifle and truffle appearing after 20 minutes. Wonderful lemon and vanilla flavours. The magnum disappeared in a shockingly short period at the hands of 8 thirsty diners and a kitten. Bloody marvelous.
