Saint-Aubin 1er Cru "Fleurs de Coteaux" 2002, Thierry et Pascale Matrot

Apologies to my readers, the last 2 weeks have been more London Pride and Adnams Broadside than Ladoix and Auxey. I haven't seen any Saint-Aubin from Thierry et Pascale Matrot before so it was a pleasant surprise to find this bottle when I was in Meursault. It has a pleasant rich yellow brassy colour. A nose of nutmeg, oak spice and a soupcon of truffle. Becomes fragrant and savoury with notes of dried rose petals and dried mushrooms. Dried citrus fruit flavours, broad like Meursault, rather than long. Savoury and really dry. Enjoyable wine but perhaps 1 year past its peak. This is Quite Nice.
