Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru 2006, Drouhin-Laroze

Dark purple pink colour announces a very rich bramble and cassis nose. The wine has a massive design, potent fruit, dry and strong tannins. A very masculin weight-lifter style with plenty of ripe fruit depth. Keep in the cellar until at least 2012. Unlikely to peak before it reaches ten years of bottle age. Importantly this is a Clos de Vougeot from the upper slopes of the Clos which are contiguous with Musigny and Echezeaux. The lower slope of the Clos de Vougeot vineyard is more of a premier cru quality due to its terroir - a reality which is usually reflected in the price. Photo taken in September 2007 shows the Château du Clos de Vougeot with the village of Morey-Saint-Denis in the distance.
