Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru 2006, Drouhin-Laroze

A great wine from a great producer yet too young to divine. That's the conclusion I'm afraid folks - including the loyal, far flung Burgoblog readers in Malaysia, Ecuador, Saffron-Walden and Uruguay. The aromas lurk at the back of the glass with a dominant new oak refrain and odd hints of peppermint and shortbread. Very big structure - think of the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur - tannins overwhelm the fruit. All the elements are there for longevity and impact but describing the future style isn't possible. Imbibe from 2012.
