Volnay 1er Cru "Cailleret" 2002, Jean Boillot

Thick plum purple, slightly evolved rim. Blackberries, black currant, intense, closes up on the nose and then releases hints of date and leather. Possibly even a dose of lobster. On the palate very fine black berry fruits, medium acidity, high toned, fresh concentrated fruit. Reminiscent of Jackie Onassis -- rich, concentrated and elegant. Lovely silky tannins with underlying quartzy minerality. A sumptuous wine.
