Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Monopole "Clos de la Mouchere" 2001, Jean Boillot

Thick golden yellow colour. Vanilla, cinnamon, sponge cake, buttered toast, croissant au beurre. Turns to citrus aromas and a tart green pineapple edge. Crystalline, crisp, very fresh. Potent lemon flavour, cox's apple, really elegant fruit. A phenomenal satin texture which is really mouth-coating. Rubik's cube impression: some elements of the structure are already aligned but others need to be unlocked over time. So excellent now but has another 3-4 years of beneficial evolution left. Tasted at Ma Cuisine, a simple restaurant in Beaune with an amazing wine list.
