Monthelie 1er Cru "Les Champs Fulliots" 2005, Francois Parent

Medium red with a purple rim. Plum, canard and licorice. Ripe fruit edge. A beguiling wine with a meaty flavour, some minerality, and a robust structure. Made with 30% new oak which strikes the right balance with the ripe 2005 black stone fruits. A great year to taste Monthelie which can be a little rustic.

Francois Parent is the husband of Anne-Francoise Gros and makes wines for both labels. However, the A-F Gros vineyards are owned by the family whereas the Francois Parent wines generally are not. The only wines which are the same but sold under the different labels are the Chambolle and the Echezeaux.
