Clos des Lambrays Grand Cru 2004, Clos des Lambrays

Consistent cherry colour which is highly reflective. The nose is herbaceous (roses), red currant, high-toned and interwoven with oak. After a couple of minutes in the glass it closes up. There are fine berry fruits on the palate, slightly tart with a dry finish. Like other Morey wines from 2004 this seems to lack the depth of fruit to be an impressive wine and tends towards a bright, slightly sour style. Best avoided in this tricky vintage. Tasted at the domaine.
