Tasted at Hunan, an excellent Taiwanese restaurant in Chelsea with some very good wines. The wine from this half-bottle had a reflective, medium straw yellow colour. The initial aromas of pears and citrus are refreshing for the super-hot 2003 vintage. The bouquet opens up to mineral, sponge cake and icing notes. On the palate this Meursault has a nice balance, with medium weight, citrus and melon flavours, and a light mouth-coating texture. The style is more typical of a Puligny and its great the young wine-maker kept the over-the-top-03 sunshine under control. He's a Meursault specialist. In the photo is Michael, the sommelier at Hunan.
