Echezeaux 1998, A F Gros

Another contribution from Cobbie. This wine was just fabulous. It had a lovely bright hue, a complex nose of red fruit led by cherries and wild strawberries, along with mineral and herb expressions. After an hour in the glass the aromas were dominated by aniseed which had been dormant at the start. An intense finish and overall very exciting to drink. The photo shows the Romanee-Conti vineyard in the foreground looking north towards Le Richebourg, and Les Echezeaux in the commune of Flagey-Echezeaux. Tasted on June 23rd.
