Beaune 1er Cru "Clos-du-Roi" 2004, Tollot-Beaut

Another wine in the 12 bottle red Burgundy 2004 blind tastings I hosted in London. Medium-thick red/purple colour with initial aromas of cherries, and stawberries in a straw bed, evolving to riper red berry fruit, then becoming intense with a few spores of wild mushrooms. On the palate this wine does everything right: thick fruit, rich and ripe tannins, medium plus acidity. It is rounded and long. Promises lovely drinking for 5 years.
