Saint-Aubin 1er Cru "En Remilly" 2006, Vincent Prunier

In their youth these wines were searingly acidic and not much fun. Certainly atypical for the plump and low-acidity 2006 vintage. Having kept this for 12 years and a bit I anticipated a good dose of manzanilla sherry and was planning to cook moules marinieres. I was wrong. This has aged spectacularly well. Egg custard, lemon rind, lime cordial, orange cake on the nose. Marmalade, hay and dried rose petals. Good ripe lemon fruit on the front palate which evolves into a very pleasant mineral finish. Despite its age this wine has poise and even a little plumpness. A pleasant surprise. Scores 76/100.
