Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru "Aux Fournaux" 2015, Chandon de Briailles

First of twelve 2015 red Burgundies tasted blind during a tasting I co-hosted as I realized that 2016s are rare, expensive and not that great whilst my hypothesis was that 2015s are rare, expensive and almost all wonderful. The domaine Chandon de Briailles is one of the top tier Savigny producers. This 2015 Savigny 1er Cru is medium to light red and still has touches of bright purple. Definite oak notes. Roast plums, warm, rich, plummy, toasted, Structured, rich and ripe strawberry. Good but not thrilling. Pleasant. Scores 70-73/100. Good value though, £31 from Lay & Wheeler. Photo shows Savigny on August 9, 2010.
