Nuits Saint Georges 1er Cru "Clos des Porrets Saint Georges" 2016, Henri Gouges

The second wine from the Henri Gouges stable tasted at the Justerini & Brooks Burgundy en primeur tasting. This 1er Cru Nuits Saint Georges 2016 isn't showing much on the nose, a dab of cherry but very much closed. Good black currant and raspberry fruit on the palate, decent intensity, some heat. This is decent but not exciting in any way. Costs £550 for a 12 bottle case in bond which is £57.60 per bottle retail. Scores 66-70/100 reflecting an acceptable quality level but nothing special.
