Savigny-lès-Beaune Vieilles Vignes 2012, Seguin-Manuel

Second wine tasted at the domaine's cuverie in Beaune this was a real stunner. The vines are 70 years old and this shows in the ripeness and quality of the fruit. Despite being in the lower part of the Savigny appellation there is a lot of gravel which makes the soil permeable and well drained. This plot ripens early according to Thibaut Marion who hosted the tasting for the Burgoblog team. There are black cherries its definitely ripe and rich. Slightly rustic and a bit of a monster for Savigny. Will evolve and offer much pleasure. Scores 26/30 for a Savigny.
