Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "Clos de la Pucelle" 2008, Jean Chartron

Tasted at the splendid little rustic restaurant called the Auberge du Vieux Vigneron in Corpeau, across the Route Nationale from Puligny, this Pucelle from the venerable domaine Jean Chartron had a lot to offer and held something back. Initial notes of ripe lemon, Seville orange, peche de vigne and cherry blossom waft out of the glass. These aromas intensify in the glass without changing. More will come in future years. There is ripe and rich citrus fruit, white peach and apricot. Perfectly captures the freshness of the 2008 vintage whilst also offering depth and balance. This 2008 Puligny premier cru needs another 3 years to unfold its wings and fly high into the firmament of wine-tasting heaven! Scores 25-28/30 for a Puligny premier cru.
