Nuits Saint Georges 1er Cru "Les Chaignots" 2006, Robert Chevillon
Over the last 3 years I have rankled co-diners and tasters by complaining mercilessly about the red 2006s. Somehow the vintage just never delivered it seemed to me. There is nothing wrong with it yet nor is there anything right with it. Very perplexing! I hoped that by including an '06 in a blind tasting we could discover the truth. And so we did for blind tasting is the great revealer. A plum-coloured thick colour with some brightness still. Quiet, mute as a scared junior chorister. A dash of strawberry. Good fruit, strawberry again, not interesting, almost zombie-like, ripe, no excitement and a tannic finish. Another infuriating mishit! Scores 18 / 30 for a Nuits St Georges premier cru.
