Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru 2009, Bonneau du Martray

From a price point of view, the Corton-Charlemagne compares with the top premiers crus in Meursault and Puligny, not the Puligny grands crus. Tasted at the Corney & Barrow annual Burgundy tasting, this Corton-Charlemagne from Bonneau du Martray is considered one of the best produced. And the domaine has been refining its skills for 200 years. Immediately on sniffing there is an intensity, a finesse, a real wow factor. There is lemon pie, vanilla, white truffles. My oh my. A lovely texture, lemony, oak, concentrated, long, luxurious, lovely finish, crystalline. This wine reflects the total quality commitment of Jean-Charles le Bault de la Mornière since 1994, including vinification of the 9.5 hectares of Corton-Charlemagne grapes in 15 different parcels due to the different terroirs, organic vineyard management and light ploughing. This Burgundy wine offers superbity and scores 26-28/30 for a Corton-Charlemagne.
