Chablis 1er Cru "Les Vaillons" 2011, Vincent Dampt

Dampt seems like a French name that should belong to an Alsace plumber. That's not to say that they can't make good Chablis. Look at Bzikot in Puligny or the American Newman in Beaune. This Chablis 1er Cru 2011 starts on green apple, nettles, dandelions, rocket. On the palate it is pleasant, good fruit, citrus and apple. Very reasonable price for a fresh, zingy wine. Points to a 2011 vintage similar to the super-tangy 2007. Scores 18-20 / 30 for a Chablis 1er Cru. Tasted courtesy of the annual Corney & Barrow Burgundy tasting in the Tower of London.
