Beaune 1er Cru "Les Teurons" 2011, Rossignol-Trapet

Tasted courtesy of the Corney & Barrow annual Burgundy tasting, this is another deftly made and pleasurable offering from domaine Rossignol-Trapet, one of only three appellations they produce from the Côte de Beaune. Harvested from a good-sized 1.5 hectare plot, from vines mostly planted in 1983, this Beaune 1er Cru is toasty, plummy, still a tad muddled on the nose. Good fruit, elegant, blood orange, will develop well. Looks like excellent value for the 2011 vintage and confirms my thesis that the Côte de Beaune reds will be more reliable on the whole than those from the Côte de Nuits. Scores 19-22 / 30 for a Beaune 1er Cru. Photo shows Beaune vineyards looking towards Pommard on August 4, 2011.
