Pommard 1er Cru "Les Pezerolles" 2001, Moissenet-Bonnard

Back in 2004 we visited this domaine and bought a few cases of their 2000s and 2001s. For those of you interested in how wines evolve here are tasting notes for the domaine's 2001 Epenots in 2009, 2011 and 2012. We returned for a tasting in 2012 given the quality and uncompromising structure of the Moissenet-Bonnard wines we had tasted blind in 2011. This Pezerolles turned out to be another pungent, pinot monster. Aromas of licorice, cloves, plum, cointreau. The nose is vibrant and pungent announcing a structured wine on the palate that combines plum and cherry fruit with rich tannins. For those of you looking for "traditional" Burgundies made from vines that struggle for water and nutrients with grass growing in the vineyard I heartily recommend Moissenet-Bonnard wines. They are not for the faint-hearted! Scores 22 / 30 for a Pommard 1er Cru.
